Dr. Daniel Bauk joined Southern Maryland Orthopaedics in 1994. He was born and raised in Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomechanical Engineering from Brown University in Providence, RI. While at Brown, he played four years of football and was a member of Delta Tau fraternity. He then received a Master of Science degree in Physiology at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Dr. Bauk began his medical training at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he graduated with honors. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and the Rush Medical Society. He continued his training at the University of Maryland Medical System, completing a one year General Surgery internship and a four year Orthopaedic residency.

After completing his residency, Dr. Bauk completed an additional year of fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, focusing on complex primary hip and knee replacements and revision of failed hip and knee replacements.

Dr. Bauk was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1996, and recertified in 2006. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Southern Orthopaedic Association and the Maryland Orthopaedic Association. He has also been elected to the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

As do all the doctors at Southern Maryland Orthopaedics, Dr. Bauk practices General Orthopaedics, providing a full range of musculoskeletal care. He focuses on surgical and non-surgical care of arthritis of the hip and knee, including partial knee replacements, less invasive hip replacement, revisions of failed hip and knee replacements, as well athletic injuries of the knee.

Outside of his orthopaedic practice, Dr. Bauk strives to be a part of the community. He lives with his wife Joan and four children in Leonardtown. He is deeply involved in youth sports, having coached football, baseball, softball, soccer, basketball and lacrosse at some point over the past 15 years. In addition to volunteering as team physician for Leonardtown High School, he has been on the sidelines as an assistant football coach for the past five years. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, boating, cycling, golf and golf clubmaking.
