Rachel Hastings P.A.-C

Rachel Hastings, PA-C joined Southern Maryland Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine in November 2003. She was born in Washington D.C. and was raised in Prince George's County, Maryland. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from East Carolina University. She then attended George Washington University where she completed the Physician Assistant Program and received a Masters degree in Health Sciences.

As a Physician Assistant, Rachel worked for four years in surgery/labor and delivery and as a surgical house officer at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Lanham, Maryland before joining Southern Maryland Orthopaedics. Rachel moved from southern Anne Arundel County to northern Calvert County, with her family, in 2001. She is nationally certified by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants and has completed two national recertifications, the most recent in 2010. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants.

As a Physician Assistant with Southern Maryland Orthopaedics, Rachel evaluates, diagnoses, and treats various orthopaedic and sports medicine ailments and injuries. She works closely with the physicians and helps care for their patients as well. She performs in-office injections and aspirations and also applies casts and splints.

Rachel lives in Huntingtown, Maryland with her husband, Paul, where they are raising their two beautiful young children. She is active in their community church and also involved with her children's extracurricular activities. She enjoys running, gardening, sports and the outdoors as well as spending time with family and friends.
